Street Market - Hong Kong, China

photo of toilet at street market in hong kong china

Today, the Toilets of the World Blog brings you a toilet from a Street Market in Hong Kong, China.

The tiling around this street market squatter was done with such care, the detail on the pants and the miscellaneous collection of items surrounding it, all come together to create an image of a place.

What was the can and suspicious looking blue tube last used for? Who brought them here? What could be in the trash can?  Who is the man in the stripped pants and well made shoes? Well we can answer that, its non other than one of our top contributers, Marc Delport.

Great work Marc, keep them coming.

Misty's Trailerhome - Missoula, Montana

photo of toilet at misty's trailer park home in missoula montana

Today, the Toilet of the World Blog, brings you a toilet from Misty's trailer park home in Missoula, Montana.

After spending a great night at the Kettlehouse Brewery and Mo-Club, the Toilets of the World team ended up at The Rhino where we met Misty, a Missoula local who offered to be our guide through Missoula and invited us over to her place for a barbecue.

The team followed Misty through the streets of Missoula as she guided us to her home. We stopped somewhere to by some steaks and lighter fluid for the grill, had a swim in a river and took some awesome photo's of the sun setting.

When we arrived at Misty's home, we prepared potato's, and had ourselves a lovely meal under the stars on Rainbow Rd.

You can't see it in this photo, but next to the toilet hangs a shower curtain with a map of the world on it. Somehow, that seems important to this story.

Thanks Misty, you should be working for Missoula's tourism department.

Lululemon - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

photo of toilet at lululemon in philadelphia Pennsylvania

Today, the Toilets of the World blog brings you a toilet from Lululemon Athletica in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

This yoga-inspired athletic apparel company is doing something right. As soon as the Toilets team walked into the store, we all felt like we needed to make some drastic changes to our disgustingly lazy and unhealthy lives.

I know I had the sudden urge to give birth to a baby so that I could buy Lululemon tights, so that I could look good while doing yoga to help shake off that post-pregnancy flab. And I'm a dude. Other team members have shared similar feelings.

But Lululemon doesn't only care about its store, they extend the feel into the bathroom. Nothing says "Buy an expensive, high quality pair of stretchy workout pants" like an assortment of earth tone colored towels in a wicker basket. It works.

Thumbs up to you Lululemon. The team really enjoyed our visit to you store. How about a pair of free stretchy pants? XXL?

Petrol Stop - Tibet, China

photo of toilet at a petrol stop in tibet, china

Today the Toilets of the World Blog brings you a rather disgusting toilet from a petrol stop somewhere in Tibet.

This photo was sent in by Werner Arno Van Rooyen a long time ago and it was the first of its kind the team had seen.

As Werner writes, "This is probably more of a urinal than a toilet. I'm sure from the looks of it we can all assume that it often doubles as both." For Werner's sake, we hope he only had to go number one.

Think about this next time you have to use a public toilet and want to complain about how dirty it is.

Thanks Werner.

Gert's Mom's House - Durbanville, South Africa

photo of toilet durbanville south africa

Today, the Toilets of the World blog brings you a toilet from Gert's mom's house in Durbanville, South Africa.

A very nice bowl indeed. The African decorations on the lid and rim are nice touches. But today we want to focus on the urine in the bowl and dedicate this post to Bafana Bafana's piss poor performance against Uruguay in the Soccer World Cup 2010.

Please improve.

Train Station - Helsinki, Finland

photo of toilet at train station in helsinki finland

Today, the Toilets of the World blog brings you a toilet from a train station in Helsinki, Finland.

This one was submitted by David Karnes who shelled out one Euro to take a piss in this metal wonder. We can only imagine what fantastic sounds a steady stream of urine would made against the sides of this brilliant bowl. Add to this the beautiful blue green colors of the tiles and you have to admit that this is a piece of art in the world of toilets.

Euro well spent we say.

Thanks David.

Claws Seafood House - Rehoboth Beach, Delaware

photo of toilet at Claws Seafood House in Rehoboth Beach Delaware

Today, the Toilets of the World blog brings you a toilet from Claws Seafood House, a restaurant in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

The water is cold, the beach is crowded, the shops sell junk and parking is expensive. Why have we been here twice? Two things. Dogfishead brewery has a restaurant in Rehoboth and Claws Seafood House is here.

Definitely the best parts of our last visit to this east coast beach town. The toilet is a real dissapointment, something more interesting should be done here. The food is good though. There's nothing like a delicious salmon and avo burger to make one forget about the other man-made bullshit next to this beach. Even about the beach itself.

Jomo Kenyatta Airport - Nairobi, Kenya

photo of toilet at Jomo Kenyatta Airport in Nairobi Kenya

Today, the Toilets of the World blog brings you a toilet from the the International Departures section of the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

This stepped toilet is a great example of what happens when east meets west and they need to decide on how to poop. At once luxurious and confusing, at least it is sparkling clean. It would only take a small amount of spilled urine to turn this into a slippery toilet of death though. Those steps don't look very soft.

Another submission by Marc Delport. Good find.

Somewhere - Mali

photo of toilet in Mali

Today, the Toilets of the World blog brings you a toilet from somewhere in Mali.

This one was sent in by Marc Delport one of our regular contributors.

Compared to some other toilets we've received from Mali, this one looks normal enough. Its missing part of its seat but there's enough toilet paper stocked in this bathroom to get around that.

The blue watering can is an interesting and recurring theme in toilets from this part of the world. We can only assume its a flushing device.

Thanks Marc.

Shenandoah Brewing Co - Alexandria, Virginia

photo of toilet at Shenandoah Brewing Co in Alexandria Virginia

Today, the Toilets of the World blog brings you a toilet from the Shenandoah Brewing Company*. in Alexandria Virginia.

The Shenandoah Brewing Company is a brew pub where you can go brew your own beer. Seriously. They will even clean up your mess afterwards. This makes it a very special place.

The toilet is also a very special place. The walls of this bathroom is decorated with empty beer cans, beer signs and all things beer. Pretty amazing.

Thank you Shenandoah Brewing Co.

*Note: Despite having awesome toilet decorations, we hear that The Shenandoah Brewing has closed down

Red Dragon - Minneapolis, Minnesota

photo of toilet at the red dragon in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Today, the Toilets of the World blog brings you a toilet from The Red Dragon in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

What a great place for getting awesomely wasted. If you just want to go out and buy only one drink and be wasted for the rest of the night, then go to the Red Dragon and try the Wonderous Punch. Drinking more than three or four (depending on individual factors) should be illegal.

We think one of our team members managed to have three but will not argue with anyone who says otherwise.

To be completely honest, we don't remember this bar to clearly, but thinking back on it makes us smile and that's the only thing a good bar really needs to do.

Pizza Hut - Fairfax, Virginia

photo of toilet at Pizza Hut in Fairfax Virginia

Today, the Toilets of the World Blog brings you a boring toilet from Pizza Hut in Fairfax Virginia.

The team didn't expect much went we went into this bathroom and rightly so. The usual American standard toilet, brown tiles, metal hand rails and all the other mind numbingly boring objects one finds an a bathroom of this sort. The hand dryer, the toilet paper holder designed to prevent theft of valuable toilet paper rolls and of course the sign saying "All employees must wash hands". Like they listen and like we care. Let them piss on their hands and not wash if they want to. Seriously.

Other than that, the urine soaked pizza was good.

The Mint Bar - Sheridan, Wyoming

photo of toilet at the mint in Sheridan Wyoming

Today, The Toilets of the World Blog, brings you a toilet from The Mint Bar in Sheridan, Wyoming. Sheridan was voted the number one Western Town in the US by True West Magazine in 2006. describes The Mint as:

"The ultimate cowboy bar, featuring a multicolored neon sign outside that shows a wrangler mid-air on a bucking bronc with neon cattle brands like sparks around the hooves. Inside, the Mint is lined entirely in cedar and gnarled pine burls, with rough-hewn log booths and shingle walls that gleam like slick leather and bear hundreds of brands. The timber walls are hung with panoramic photographs of ranch life, circa. 1941."

Sounds and is amazing. We had a terrifying but great time there. Some real tough looking cowboys hang out in this place but the bar lady took us under our wing and we came to no harm.

Unfortunately, we saw little of the wild west when we visited the toilet. In 2007, Sheridan ended up in 6th place for the same contest. We can't help but wonder if an old "Wanted: Dead or Alive" poster or even a drawing of Yosemite Sam, above this toilet might have made a difference.

The Fudge Factory - Madison, Indiana

photo of toilet at the fudge factory in madison indiana

Today, The Toilets of the World blog brings you a Valentine's Day toilet from The Fudge Factory in Madison, Indiana.

We never went into the store itself but spent a night in the bed and breakfast side. The entire room was decorated with antiques. It was as close to sleeping in a museum as we would ever like to come.

The toilet, as you can see, was decorated with old newspaper articles about the Titanic. For some reason a poster of the movie was also included.

And it is this poster that makes this a Valentines Day toilet. On this day we should all feel like Jack Dawson when he makes out with Rose DeWitt Bukater for the first time, but many of us instead end up feeling like Jack Dawson when that bitch Rose DeWitt Bukater lets him go into the ocean.

All the best, and remember, drinking by yourself is okay on Valentine's day.

The Magic Kingdom - Orlando, Florida

photo of toilet at the magic kingdom in Orlando Florida

Today the Toilets of the World Blog brings you a toilet from the Magic Kingdom in Orlando Florida.

It looks less magical than the team would have expected. No Mickey Mouse, no Goofy, no attempt at extending the theme into the bathroom. A clear sign of the times.

If The Magic Kingdom doens't care about making their toilets fun, who will? Come on Disney, you can do better. Nuff said.

The Schooner - Minneapolis, Minnesota

photo of toilet at the Schooner in Minneapolis Minnesota

Today the Toilets of the World Blog brings you a toilet from The Schooner in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The Schooner is one of the oldest bars in Minneapolis and its a great place for cheap beer in a sometimes depressing environment. Play some pool, have a chat with the locals and if you're there on the right day, take part in a meat raffle. What is a meat raffle you ask? Well, you purchasing a $1 ticket, enter the raffle and then stand a chance of winning a big pile of meat. Happiness is winning meat when drunk at The Schooner.

A couple of years ago a transgender woman was protecting herself from a hate crime just outside The Schooner and ended up stabbing the hater to death with a pair of scissors. So keep that in mind.
