Michelin-starred restaurant - Denia, Spain

photo of toilet at a Michelin starred restaurant in Denia Spain

Today the Toilets of the World Blog brings you a toilet from Denia, Spain.

This very interesting and somewhat confusing toilet was sent in by Sarah Davis.

Here's what she has to say:

"The glass wall is full of wine bottle corks and this is obviously the mans urinal ( I accidently wondered into the gents after the mirrored wall I was looking at slid open as I approached it. It was very odd ) Apparently on flush, the wall acts as a waterfall... (although I didn't hang around to witness that personally)"

Thanks Sarah, sure it was an accident stumbling into the gents...We love the wine bottle corks and thanks for the great explanation of how this urinal actually works.

Mali - Somewhere in the Sahel

photo of toilet in mali

Today the Toilets of the World Blog brings you a toilet from somewhere in the Sahel area of Mali. If you recognize this one, please send us the location. And go see a doctor.

Having never been to the Sahel area ourselves, we looked it up on Wikipedia. We found that desertification is becoming a problem in the area as a result of over-farming, over-grazing and natural soil erosion. A serious problem to be sure. We don't have a solution and can only hope that someone smarter will come along and fix this.

We are told that peeing on the desert will not help.

This photo was sent in by Marc Delport, an old friend of the Toilets of the World collection.

Thanks Marc.
